When the road gets dark
And you can no longer see
Just let my love throw a spark
And have a little faith in me
And when the tears you cry
Are all you can believe
Just give these loving arms a try
And have a little faith in me
Have a little faith in me
Have a little faith in me
Have a little faith in me
Have a little faith in me
When your secret heart
Cannot speak so easily
Come here darlin
From a whisper start
To have a little faith in me
And when your backs against the wall
Just turn around and you will see
I will catch, I will catch your fall baby
Just have a little faith in me
The song, "Have a Little Faith in Me", was written and performed by the great singer/songwriter John Hiatt and appears on the album Bring The Family. It is also featured on the soundtrack of Benny & Joon (a favorite of mine). It has been covered by such artists like; Joe Cocker, Mandy Moore, Jewel, Bon Jovi and Delbert McClinton. Hiatt has been described as 'Memphis meets Muddy Waters'. Hiatt is no stranger to pain, as a youth he was drawn to writing following the death of his father and the suicide of his older brother in a 2 year span. In later years he pulled himself out of an alcaholic state only after his wife committed suicide and left him with their one year old daughter to raise.
Recently I have lost 'A Little Faith In Me'. My road has gotten dark. On February 11th 2009 I was told my job will be ending the 1st of May. Putting the house up for sale immediately was necessary in order to preserve our finacial good standing. I came into a good job and a home late in my life. I have struggled and worked hard to achieve these goals. I wore my job around my neck like a rapper wears his finest 'BLING', on the outside of my shirt, in plain view of all. And wrongfully so, I measured my self worth by the things that I hold to be prestige (money, cars, house, pool, furniture & toys, oh yes lots and lots of toys).
Well, I've been loving you for such a long time girl
Expecting nothing in return
Just for you to have a little faith in me
You see time, time is our friend
cause for us there is no end
And all you gotta do is have a little faith in me
I said I will hold you up, I will hold you up
Your love gives me strength enough
So have a little faith in me

I don't care how poor a man is;
if he has family, he's rich.
